Governor Kasich Signs Senate Bill 2

Ohio Governor John Kasich visited Cleveland yesterday to sign a bill to protect the health of Lake Erie.

Senate Bill 2 will expand the power of the Ohio EPA but it’s also aimed at helping businesses.

The legislation will also strengthen efforts to improve the environment, the governor’s office said. It does so by encouraging better use of dredge materials and ensuring proper disposal of construction debris.

“We want to take good care of our environment,” Kasich said at the ceremony at the Great Lakes Science Center, overlooking Lake Erie. “This is one of the crown jewels of our state.”

Ohio EPA Director Craig Butler, Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof, Senator Cliff Hite and Port of Cleveland CEO Will Friedman attended the ceremony.
