Soil and Water Bioengineering Symposium in Glasgow

The Glasgow Caledonian University  in collaboration with the European Federation of Soil and Water Bioengineering (E.F.I.B) and within the ECOMED Erasmus+ project framework, will host the International Symposium on Soil- and Water Bioengineering in a Changing Climate on 7th-8th September 2017.

According to the E.F.I.B., Soil- and Water Bioengineering is a discipline that combines technology and biology by making use of plants and plant communities as building materials which can both protect and stabilize the soil and contribute to landscape development. It not only includes technical functions (protection and stabilization), ecological functions (ecosystem restoration) and landscaping (improvement of landscape integration), but also socio-economic (efficiency and employability) aspects.

Soil- and Water Bioengineering techniques are nature-based construction system that offer very useful and valuable solutions for facing nowadays climate change challenges.

Case studies and cutting-edge research from Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Macedonia, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, and United Kingdom, will be presented during the event.
