Leicester Flood Risk Management Strategy up for Comment

The Environment Agency and Leicester City Council are working together on a high-level plan, the Flood Risk Management Strategy (IFRMS), which is aimed to mitigate the risk in the city.

Through the appraisal of a number of options, we have developed a range of flood risk management measures. These were chosen based on their effectiveness to reduce flooding and also for their potential to deliver environmental and social benefits,” said the EA in the release.

According to the Environment Agency, the draft strategy and the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) report are available for comment until November 12, 2017.

The SEA is a process which aims to ensure appropriate consideration is given to the environment during the making of policy, plan or program.

The SEA environmental report presents the results of this process and explains how the environment has been taken into account in the development of the draft strategy.
