The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, newest hydrographic survey vessel, SV Catlett, arrived in Baltimore July 2017 and is the most recent addition to the district’s fleet of working vessels.

Named in honor of Harold Lloyd Catlett, Jr., the vessel will be christened in a ceremony on August 24 at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore.

The vessel, built by Technology Associates, Inc., will be used to help map the depths of channels and ensure continued safe navigation in and out of the Port of Baltimore.

Survey vessels monitor federal navigation channels to evaluate their current condition and to determine if any dredging may be required.
