Dredging Part of Bantry Harbor Project

The new Bantry Harbor Marina has been officially opened by Bantry’s own footballing legend, Graham Canty along with Bantry Bay Port Company Chairman, John Mullins.

The opening of the new marina is part of the overall Bantry Inner Harbor Development which marks the start of the regenerating of the Inner Harbor Development scheme.

Speaking at the opening, Chairman John Mullins said “We are delighted that the new Bantry Harbor Marina is now open for local and visiting boats to enjoy. This new sheltered harbor facility will be of great benefit to both commercial and leisure users bringing increased activity in the area.”

The Inner Harbor Development will provide improved access and facilities on the town pier, will support existing businesses and will promote and increase commercial activity in Bantry Harbor and Town.

Overall, this €8.5 million project included construction of the 20 berth marina (quayside pontoons), dredging to a depth of 4 meters to allow vessels access to the inner harbor, remedial works to Town Pier (widening and extending), 4,000m² of reclaimed landscaped amenity area, construction of 60m long floating breakwater pontoon and beach nourishment at Cove site.
