Environmental Assessment Available for Spring Creek Park

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, announces the availability of the Draft Integrated Feasibility Report/Environmental Assessment for the Spring Creek Park, New York Ecosystem Restoration Study and the opening of the 30-day public comment period on the report.

The public comment period concludes on October 6, 2017.

This Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment has been prepared to document the formulation and evaluation (including potential environmental impacts and benefits) of plans to restore the degraded ecosystem structure, function, and dynamic processes within Spring Creek Park.

The Tentatively Selected Plan would be accomplished by excavating and re-contouring uplands to appropriated intertidal elevations, removing invasive plant species, and replanting with native plant species.

The overall project purpose is to improve the environmental quality (water, diversity and wildlife habitat) with 7.6 acres of low marsh, 5.4 acres of high marsh, 22.1 acres of maritime upland, for a total of 35.1 acres.
