Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee to Meet in Kansas City

The Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee (MRRIC) will hold its 39th meeting in Kansas City, Missouri, October 31 – November 2, 2017, USACE’s Omaha district said in its latest release.

The committee established three new adaptive management work groups in August that will help implement the Corps new adaptive management (AM) strategy.

MRRIC tentatively approved seven recommendations to the Corps and the Fish and Wildlife Service concerning the Missouri River Recovery Program at its August meeting and will consider final approval of those and an additional eight proposed recommendations at the upcoming meeting.

MRRIC’s role in advising the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is continuing to evolve; we have worked hard over the past several years to reach this point in engaging on strategic questions related to the Recovery Program and in implementing adaptive management. I’m excited about the progress we have made,” said MRRIC Chair Gail Bingham.

Most sessions of this meeting are open to members of the public who will have an opportunity during each daily session to address the committee and the lead federal agencies – USACE and USFWS.

The meeting will take place at the Hilton Kansas City Airport, beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, October 31, and concluding at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, November 2.
