Waterway Constructions Wins Eden Breakwater Wharf Extension Project

Member for Bega and Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Andrew Constance, and Minister for Lands, Paul Toole, today announced that Waterway Constructions had been awarded the marine structures contract for the Eden Breakwater Wharf Extension project.

“This fantastic project will create opportunities for local businesses once complete, including more than 80 new ongoing jobs in the tourism, hospitality and stevedoring sectors,” Mr Constance said.

“Over the next 18 months, specialist marine contractor Waterway Constructions will extend the existing wharf by some 110 meters and install five berthing dolphins and three onshore bollards on the existing wharf.

“Once complete, this project will provide access for cruise ships up to 325 meters in length to Eden so that passengers can disembark safely via the ships’ gangways onto the wharf,” Mr Constance said.

Minister for Lands Paul Toole added that the project will provide business and employment opportunities throughout the life of the marine structures contract.

The Department of Industry – Crown Lands is responsible for delivering the project, which is scheduled for completion in 2019.

The Eden Wharf extension project budget is $32 million and is being managed by the NSW Government.
