The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) said in their latest release that the trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Breughel arrived in Yuzhny yesterday, getting ready to remove 411,238 cubic meters of material from the city port areas.

Earlier this year, USPA signed a contract with Novadeal LTD, a subsidiary of the DEME Group, based on the results of an open tender for maintenance dredging of the internal water area and the internal approach channel of Yuzhny Port.

“ Our cooperation with leading international companies is one of the indicators of qualitative changes in USPA. We are pleased to have Novadeal as a partner for the development of the infrastructure of Yuzhny port. This cooperation will be useful for the enterprise, the marine industry and for Ukraine as a whole ,” said the Head of the USPA Raivis Veckagans.

These dredging operations, worth $3.5 million, are necessary in order to maintain the depth of port’s water area and ensure navigation safety in operational water areas of berths No 2–4, 7–9, 16,17, 3Ни 38, according to USPA’s announcement.
