Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Painesville Township Park Pier

Representatives from KS Associates attended a ribbon cutting ceremony last month to celebrate the grand opening of the new Painesville Township Park Pier.

The new 200-foot-long pier, designed by KS Associates, is now open to the public.

The pier is part of a shoreline protection initiative undertaken by Lake Metroparks and the Painesville Township Board of Park Commissioners.

In 2013, Lake Metroparks contracted with KS Associates to develop concepts for the new pier. After presenting several alternatives, the chosen design is the 150-foot-long by 20-foot-wide steel crib pier connected to shore with a 50-foot-long by 10-foot-wide steel bridge.

Construction of the pier was complete in September 2017, and the pier was officially opened with the ribbon cutting ceremony on October 17, 2017.

As part of the project, KS Associates also developed a solution to stabilize the eroding hillside along the park’s shoreline.

KS designed a new 800-foot-long armor stone revetment east and west of the pier to replace a failing steel sheet pile retaining wall.
