Mud Cat, a division of Ellicott Dredge Technologies (EDT), has introduced the new highly portable Mud Cat® MC 115D.

The MC 115D maximizes output on its 24 ft. (7.3m) long platform with a 115 HP (85 kW) diesel engine. An optional self-launching hydraulic tilt trailer and built-in pipe rack makes transport, launch and retrieval a breeze, said the company.

Our goal was to create a simple and affordable dredge system that utilized our technology and patent portfolio to create a versatile and highly productive mini-dredge to offer to our client base. We accomplished that goal,” said Ryan Horton, EDT Vice President.

The SolidsMaster™ cutterhead achieves a 7 ft. (2.1m) wide x 18 in. (0.46m) deep cutting path and can reach up to a 15 ft. (4.6m) working depth.

This piece of equipment operates effectively in sand, silt, mud, and organics and comes standard with replaceable teeth and the patent pending Pump Defender™ self-cleaning debris guard that cleans the pump inlet after every revolution of the cutterhead, said Mud Cat.

The SolidsMaster includes three rapid release clean out panels on top of the ultra-low turbidity shroud to make maintenance easy on the operator.

The optional patented WeedMaster® cutterhead can replace the SolidsMaster to cut and pump various types of vegetation to shore.

PUMP PERFORMANCE

The 8 in. (203 mm) ladder mounted Hardox slurry pump produces 2,000 GPM (454m3/hr.) total flow with a maximum spherical solids clearance of 4.3 in. (109 mm).

It would take two of our competitor’s auger dredges to match the productivity of the Mud Cat MC 115D and three to four of the small amphibious tracked dredges. The cost per cubic yard is going to be much lower and contractors will be able to complete projects faster with the MC 115D versus other mini-dredge systems,” said DuWayne Richert, Regional Sales Manager.

PROPULSION

The MC 115D comes with a 4-point cable drive system for dredging in sand, silt and other materials.

The optional dual outboard self-propulsion system allows for high maneuverability when dredging in loose silts and organics.

OPERATOR STATION

The MC 115D comes with easy-to-use electronic over hydraulic finger tip controls and an optional shoulder harness remote control for operating the dredge up to 1,000 ft. (305 m) away, while in cable drive mode, in environments where it is not safe for humans, said the company.

An optional Mud Cat brand weather canopy can be added to the MC 115D to protect the operator from the elements.
