Marin Teknikk to Design Seabed Mining Ship for Debmarine

Marin Teknikk AS, a Norway based company involved in engineering services for shipyards and ship owners, has entered into an agreement with Debmarine Namibia for design and engineering of a new MT6027 Seabed Mining vessel.

The new vessel will be the largest ship ever designed by Marin Teknikk.

With a length of 177 meters and a breadth of 27 meters, it will be a massive vessel with an extensive package of equipment on board. The equipment which will be installed is developed by De Beers, said the company in their announcement.

The vessel will accommodate 109 people and is designed according to the class notation ECO (Clean Design).

“High focus is given to low fuel consumption, which reduces emission to the environment,” according to the official release.

The new MT6027 is equipped with diesel electric frequency controlled propulsion, highly efficient azimuth thrusters, 4P mooring system and dynamic positioning system.
