SHANTI SAGAR − 18 Delivery Set for Next Week

The largest dredger under IRClass, the 8,000m³ trailing suction hopper dredger SHANTI SAGAR – 17 has been successfully delivered to her new owners – Adani ports and SEZ Ltd by Royal IHC, the Netherlands.

This TSHD was constructed under the special survey of Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) and all the Statutory Certificates are issued by IRClass on behalf of St. Vincent & Grenadines Flag.

According to the Indian Register of Shipping, The dredger is built in compliance to the applicable IMO requirements including SOLAS, MARPOL, Loadline and MLC 2006.

The new TSHD was lunched at IHC’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, the Netherlands, on 31 March 2017. This is the first of two Beagle 8 TSHDs for Adani – the second (SHANTI SAGAR − 18) was launched in July 2017.

The newbuild is the biggest dredger built under IRClass so far and also the first dredger to be assigned with dredging freeboard as per Guidelines for Assignment of Reduced Freeboards for Dredgers, DR-68 at the time of delivery.

We sincerely appreciate the contribution and efforts of Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) which led to the successful construction of our new vessel Shanti Sagar 17. It is their attention to detail and prompt responses which culminated into the success of this project,” said Colonel Vinod George (Retd), Chief Operating Officer, Dredging and Reclamation, Adani Group.

Commenting on the project, Mr. Vijay Arora, Joint Managing Director of Indian Register of Shipping said “We are pleased to note that leading owners are reposing faith in IRS and its capabilities. We look forward to working closely with Indian as well as International owners for new constructions projects worldwide.

Each Beagle 8 is equipped with IHC’s Trailspeed Controller (TSC) and Eco Pump Controller (EPC). Developed in-house, the TSC ensures a constant speed while dredging, which leads to higher average production results and greater levels of consistency.

The SHANTI SAGAR – 17 was handed over to her owners on 20 November, said Royal IHC in their latest announcement. IRClass expects that the delivery of the SHANTI SAGAR − 18 will take place sometimes next week.
