All Set for Chesapeake City Basin Works

Dredging of the Chesapeake City Basin and portion of the C&D Canal is underway now, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, North Atlantic Division.

The Corps reported few days ago that the Chesapeake City Basin works are scheduled to begin the week of November 27th 2017.

Jade Creek Construction won the $2.19 million contract to dredge the basin to a depth of 10 feet earlier in October.

Work will take place within the Army Corps’ property limit in Chesapeake City, Md. Additional work will occur east of the basin in the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. This will encompass a 10,000 linear foot stretch dredged to a depth of 35 feet,” USACE said.

The contractor will have approximately 60 days to complete the dredging project.

This project represents the culmination of a long-term effort between the Army Corps of Engineers and the Maryland Department of the Environment.
