Works on the £4.8 million Highfields Park Restoration Scheme are in full swing now, according to Carillion plc of Wolverhampton, West Midlands.

The contractor yesterday announced that so far, crews working on the project, have dredged approximately 3600 cubic meters of silt out of the boating lake.

This major redevelopment project that will remove silt from the boating lake and improve infrastructure, began this summer with the completion expected by the spring of 2018.

The restoration of the park is being funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Big Lottery Fund’s Parks for People program, Nottingham City Council and other partners.

Overall, the project includes de-silting the lake; restoration of bridges, stonework, pavilions, boathouse and ticket office; tram entrance surfacing and lighting improvements; and Park Ranger-led activities, events and volunteering.
