DEME, the Belgian dredging, environmental and marine engineering group, said in their latest announcement that the coastal protection works in Benin at the Cotonou shoreline are in full swing.

Works include beach nourishment with a total volume of 1,5 million m³ as well as rock revetment and groyne construction.

The first groyne was completed by the DEME-team in November, a significant milestone for the works that will continue throughout 2018,” the company said.

Building on recent successes in the region, DEME won several new contracts in Africa earlier with a total value of approximately EUR 125 million.

These contracts include projects in Angola, Benin, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia and Nigeria.
