VIDEO: Protecting Dawlish Warren

The Environment Secretary, Michael Gove, was in Dawlish Warren last week to open the resort’s new flood defense scheme which could reduce flood risks to nearly 3,000 homes and businesses in the Exe estuary area.

The £12 million coastal flood defense program at Dawlish is the result of a partnership between the Environment Agency and Teignbridge District council.

With elements including a new 100 meter long flood wall and over 200,000 cubic meters of sand, Dawlish Warren uses top engineering techniques and the natural landscape to reduce flood risk, while also conserving habitat for birds and wildlife.
