MARDEP: Marine Works Underway at Tuen Mun
The Hong Kong Marine Department (MARDEP) has just released the latest update on the Tuen Mun – Chek Lap Kok Link works, part of the Hong Kong International Airport land reclamation scheme.
With immediate effect and for a period of approximately 24 months, marine works involving drainage outfall construction, marine site investigation, seawall construction and barging operations will be carried out within this area, MARDEP said.
According to the announcement, the operations will be carried out by a flotilla of vessels including barges, derrick lighters, work boats, tugboats and construction vessels at various stages.
“The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements,” MARDEP said.
During the project, silt curtains – extending from the sea surface to the seabed, will be established around the boundary of the works area, and the vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.
