PSA Panama Expansion on Track

In January, DT covered the expansion of the PSA terminal in Panama as well as the construction of the 800-meter long quay wall. The project, which was awarded to Jan De Nul and Saipem, included dredging and excavation of approximately 4 million cubic meters of material.

 

Van Oord Duo in Kaohsiung, Taiwan

Since early 2016, Van Oord has been working on one of Taiwan’s largest land reclamation projects, the Port of Kaohsiung expansion scheme. For the works, Van Oord deployed two of its largest trailing suction hopper dredgers the Vox Máxima, the Rotterdam and TSHD Balder R to assist in the operations.

 

Steel Cutting for Jan De Nul TSHD Trio

In late March, Jan De Nul Group released a photo from the steel cutting ceremony of the company’s three new trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHDs) at Keppel Singmarine.

 

TSHD Sospan Dau Busy in Dover

The DWDR (Dover Western Docks Revival) principal contractor, a joint venture between VolkerStevin and Boskalis Westminster (VSBW), in April unveiled this beautiful photo of the trailer dredger ‘Sospan Dau’ making good progress with the harbor dredging project.

 

Tuas Terminal Phase 1 Reclamation Works in Full Swing

DEME Group in May presented the photo of the Tuas Terminal Phase 1 (TTP1) reclamation works in Singapore. This drone photo of the TTP1 site, taken on 15 May 2017, shows the reclamation and caisson works for this mega-project proceeding apace.

 

Christening of Cutter Suction Dredger Robert M. White

Royal IHC this June released a very interesting photo from the christening of bespoke cutter suction dredger (CSD) Robert M. White. Constructed at Halimar Shipyard LLC in Morgan City, Louisiana, for Manson Construction Co., the dredger was successfully launched on April 24, 2017.

 

JDN Dredgers Busy in Kingston, Jamaica

Sodraco SAS, subsidiary of Jan De Nul Group, is part of a consortium that was busy this summer with the dredging of the Port of Kingston, Jamaica.

 

Delfzijl Land Reclamation Work Underway

Van den Herik Sliedrecht, a Dutch company involved in hydraulic and marine engineering industry, in August released this beautiful photo from their land reclamation project near Delfzijl. This work was part of the company’s contract for widening of the Eemshaven-North Sea waterway, signed in February 2016.

 

Dredger ‘Maria Vittoria Z’ in Port of Piombino

In late September, Liebherr presented the industry with another beautiful photo, this time it was the picture of dredger “Maria Vittoria Z” working in the Port of Piombino, Italy.

 

TSHD Tommy Norton Arrives Home

Recently delivered trailing suction hopper dredger ‘Tommy Norton’ has already started its first dredging project, to deliver safe and reliable ocean access for the commercial vessels that cross the entrance bar to the Gippsland Lakes area. The vessel, built at Damen Shipyards Yichang, China, was delivered to her new owner, the Gippsland Ports, in early October.

 

Construction of ‘DC Orisant’ in Full Swing

Construction of the new multi-purpose 5.450m³ trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) ‘DC Orisant’ has come a long way since the keel-laying in July. The vessel – being built by Royal IHC for joint venture consisting of Den Herder (Reimerswaal Dredging) and Group de Cloedt – is set to be launched in early 2018.

 

Keel Laid for CSD Spartacus

Royal IHC has just unveiled this beautiful photo from the keel laying ceremony of world’s most powerful cutter suction dredger, the ‘Spartacus’. The keel laying ceremony took place last week at IHC shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands.
