Tender for Fountain Lake’s First Dredging Phase

The Shell Rock River Watershed District is exploring an alternative bidding method to select a contractor for the phase one of Fountain Lake dredging project.

According to the Director of Field Operations, Andy Henschel, the District will use best-value bidding, which would not necessarily lead toward the Watershed District accepting the lowest bid.

The district has formed a committee to review bids and to recommend a best value bidder to the watershed board,” Henschel said. “The process will take approximately 65 days, after which the board should be able to pick a contractor by mid- to late February.”

Henschel also added that the time necessary for the second and third contract bidding will be roughly the same.

Under the first phase of Fountain Lake dredging project the District is planning to remove approximately 500,000 cubic yards of dredged sediment.
