South Hams Council to Issue Tender for Kingsbridge’s Quay Wall Repair

South Hams District Council has just announced that the plans for repair of a 50m stretch of the damaged Kingsbridge’s Quay Wall are underway with the tender due to be issued in February by the council.

Once the successful contractor has been agreed towards the end of March, work is due to start on site in September, the council said.

Cllr John Tucker, Leader of South Hams District Council, said: “I am really pleased with the improvements we have planned for Kingsbridge town.”

“We are out for tender at the moment and we are eager to get started on the repair work to the quay wall. We have been carrying out investigations in order to make sure that the correct repair works are identified, prior to work being carried out.”

The start date has been delayed to make sure that parking for residents and visitors is unaffected during the busy summer months and that events planned within the car park can proceed.

These plans will also provide the council with the best opportunity to work with the successful contractor to minimize disruption and to get the best value for money possible, the council said.
