Isle of Palms Update: Dunecrest Lane Gets New Sand

The City of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, has just released the latest update on their beach renourishment project.

Work has been completed on the beach west of Property Owner’s Beach House in front of Beach Club Villas I & portions of Dunecrest Lane.

Under construction at this time is the remaining area of the beach in front Dunecrest Lane & Beachwood East, the city said.

This major coastal protection scheme, worth $11.8 million, is being undertaken by the Oak Brook based dredging contractor Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company (GLDD).

Last month, an emergency beach survey and assessment of the Isle of Palms shoreline was undertaken to document beach volume changes, escarpment formation, dune erosion and debris.

Weather and maintenance may affect the project’s progress, but the goal remains that the work will be completed by approximately the end of March.
