Save Our Sodus Update: Sodus Bay Dredging Set for Summer

Save Our Sodus has just released this very interesting video in which their president and Mayor of Sodus Point, Dave McDowell, explains three major benefits of the Sodus Bay channel dredging work and shares a channel dredging status.

According to McDowell, the benefits of the Sodus Bay channel dredging program are:

• deeper channel allows more boats and sailboats to come to Sodus Bay;
• deeper channel allows for a better exchange (turn) of water between the Lake and the Bay;
• the spoils from dredging will be used to heal the breach between Charles Point and Crescent Beach.

The Buffalo office of the Army Corps has secured the funds to dredge the channel in the summer of 2018.

It is expected that the dredging operations should start in late August or early September.
