Wrightsville Sand Pumping Works in Full Swing

The Wrightsville Beach Coastal Storm Risk Management Project is in full swing now, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District, said in its latest announcement.
Earlier this month, Weeks Marine, Inc. began mobilization operations including installation of large pipes on the beach and prepping beach walkovers.
The actual dredging and sand pumping operations started last week.
The dredging and beach fill portion of the project will take approximately 30 days, placing around 700,000 cubic yards of sand onto the beach.
USACE’s Wilmington District safety officials encourage the public to keep a safe distance from heavy equipment that is being used to push sand on the beach that is being pumped near the southern end of Wrightsville Beach.
