Construction on the Bathtub Beach/Sailfish Point renourishment project continues to move forward according to schedule, Martin County said in its latest project update.

The dredgers began sand pumping operations during the first week of February.

Ferreira Construction Southern Division crew members are working around the clock to keep the renourishment project on schedule,” the county said.

As a FEMA Storm Damage Recovery Project, crews will work to repair damages from Hurricane Irma in an ongoing effort to mitigate the impact of strong currents, heavy wind and big waves.

“Daily turbidity monitoring as well as around the clock turtle monitoring and construction are all keeping the project on time and safe. Testing and monitoring of the worm reef also shows that the reef is healthy and doing well during construction,” according to the update.

Work being done at Bathtub Reef Beach is set to be completed within the next few weeks, the county said.
