Mampuzha River Restoration Project Kicks Off

T.P. Ramakrishnan, the Minister for Labor and Excise, Kerala Cabinet, inaugurated the Mampuzha River Restoration Project two days ago, local media reports.

The project, proposed by the Panchayat District, will cover nearly 10-kilometer stretch of the river between Kuttikkattoor and Kaduppini.

Addressing the gathering, the minister said that the Mampuzha project is one of the examples to show the government’s commitment to protecting natural water sources.

Shri M. K. Raghavan MP, representing the Kozhikode Constituency, Kerala, added that the dredging work, now limited to just 10 km, should be expanded in such a way to cover the whole 18-km stretch of the river.

The environmental impact of conducting the dredging work in a limited stretch should be studied well to avoid complications in the future, he concluded.
