The launching ceremony of new 900kW cutter suction dredger (CSD) Jarash took place yesterday at the Royal IHC yard in Kinderdijk, the Netherlands.

Named after an ancient city in Jordan, the custom-built stationary CSD will be delivered to Arab Potash Company (APC).

After her arrival in Jordan later this year, the vessel will start dredging in the potash mines of the southern Dead Sea.

To enable the customer to use the full potential of the equipment, an extensive training program will be provided by IHC.

This is not the first Royal IHC dredger for APC, the 1966-built CSD Beaver® KING HOLLAND XXVI, is still part of the company’s fleet.

APC is the eighth largest potash producer worldwide by volume of production and the sole producer of potash in the Arab World.
