White Point Swash Works Underway

Work is underway on the beach to open the mouth of White Point Swash so that it can drain, reports the City of North Myrtle Beach.

Recent storms and hurricanes closed the mouth of the swash, negatively impacting the associated marsh and also causing flooding of streets and yards.

The work is being done by Horry County and is projected to take about two days.

According to the city officials, a more complex project to accomplish a more permanent fix is planned but requires additional permitting. If permits are granted, the work might begin to occur in October 2018.

Horry County, the Town of Briarcliffe Acres, and the City of North Myrtle Beach are involved in the project.
