We are excited that the project has been completed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers just as boating season begins. This dredging will have an enormous impact on Talbot County and the Tilghman community,” the Maryland House of Delegates stated in their letter.

“The people and small businesses in Maryland’s First District who rely on Knapps Narrows for transporting goods and fishing will be able to conduct their business without interruption,” added Rep. Andy Harris, M.D.

As part of this $1.4 million dredging contract, Southwind removed roughly 100,000 cubic yards of material from the Knapps Narrows Federal Navigation Channel to restore it to its authorized depth of 9 feet (MLLW), plus two feet of allowable overdepth, and a width of 75 feet.

During the work, USACE coordinated closely with the Maryland Department of Environment and Talbot County on the project and dredge material placement site.
