Works on the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project Continue

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is continuing field studies in June 2018 as part of ongoing environmental and technical work for the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project.

The Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project is a proposed new three‐berth container terminal that will, once finished, provide 2.4 million TEUs of additional container capacity annually.

At the moment, the scheme is undergoing a federal environmental assessment by an independent review panel, under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012, and requires other permits and authorizations before it can proceed.

The Port of Vancouver recently announced the appointment of Dr. Douw Steyn as a new member of the Review Panel established to conduct the environmental assessment of the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project.

Dr. Douw Steyn joined Panel Chair, Ms. Jocelyne Beaudet, and panel member, Dr. David Levy, who were appointed to the Review Panel by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change on May 31, 2016.

The Port of Vancouver has provided an overview of field studies that will be taking place in June 2018:

  • Coastal Geomorphology;
  • Abiotic Parameters Study.
