VIDEO: Spotlight on Unity Island Ecoystem Restoration Project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, hosted a project celebration event earlier this week for the Continuing Authorities Program Section 204 beneficial use of dredged material project at the Unity Island north pond in Buffalo, NY.

Speakers for the event included Congressman Brian Higgins, City of Buffalo Deputy Commissioner for Parks and Recreation, Andy Rabb, and USACE Buffalo District Commander, Lt. Col. Adam Czekanski.

Beneficial use is the concept of using something that would normally be disposed of, for something useful, USACE said.

For the Unity Island Ecoystem Restoration project, USACE is using clean dredged sediment to build a new wetland area.
