USACE Detroit Hosts Coastal Informational beach walk

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, will host this week an informational outreach event featuring discussions about coastal processes, erosion, water levels and Corps’ programs.

This event, facilitated by the Corps staff, will discuss: the effect of lake levels on coastal erosion, water level forecasts, things that affect coastal erosion, the role of dunes in protecting, coastal geology and erosion while taking an interactive beach walk.

Speakers are Corps’ Detroit District team members from the Great Lakes Hydraulics & Hydrology, Regulatory and Planning offices led by Jim Selegean, Ph.D., hydraulic engineer, Great Lakes Hydraulics & Hydrology office. Selegean is the lead of the district’s coastal engineering and field measurements group.

This forum will be held on Tuesday, June 12, from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the Racine North Beach Park, 100 Kewaunee Street, Racine, Wisconsin.
