Patimban Port Development Scheme About to Begin

Indonesian Government’s Ministry of Transportation announced last Friday that the construction works on the Patimban Port Development Project (Package 1) are set to begin sometimes next month.

The project, located in Subang, West Java, will be conducted by a joint venture including Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd., TOA Corporation, Rinkai Nissan Construction Co., Ltd., PT PP Tbk. and PT Wijaya Karya Tbk.

Indonesian Transportation Ministry officials and representative from the Indonesia-Japan consortium, Hiromu Shinoda, met in Jakarta last week to sign the contract agreement for this capital development project.

“We really want to increase our competitiveness and lower our logistics costs through better services. That’s why this is an important project,” said Budi Karya Sumadi, the Transportation Minister, at the ceremony.

The Patimban Port Development Project – Package 1 will include a significant amount of land reclamation works, soil improvement operations, pier construction, etc.

The new port project, located in the eastern part of Jakarta metropolitan area, is funded under the ODA loan scheme of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
