After receiving a welcome note from IADC’s Secretary General, Rene Kolman, the group participated in an informative plenary session.

IADC’s President, Frank Verhoeven, laid the foundation by introducing the key drivers of dredging. London School of Economics professor, Julius Sen, then built upon this foundation by discussing the economic drivers behind dredging’s drivers.

Future-proofed founder, Serge de Gheldere, concluded the plenary session by revealing insights about climate change to guide the industry towards thinking in terms of sustainability.

According to the IADC’s release, after the plenary session, participants divided into smaller groups for moderated sessions where the ideas of the plenary session contributed to a brainstorm of out-of-the-box ways to address the challenges facing the industry in the future.

Afterwards, the plenary session reconvened and representatives from each session pitched their peers’ innovative solutions to the entire group.
