The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, recently hosted a public meeting to gather input on the potential closure of a portion of Gull Lake Dam Road, located in East Gull Lake, Minnesota.

Evaluation of the purpose and need for the public road began after the St. Paul District completed emergency repairs on a section of the river bank adjacent to the road in November 2017, which were necessary to stabilize the slope between the road and river.

During the bank stabilization project, concerns were raised regarding the compatibility of the road with the surrounding recreation mission, protection of cultural resources and the constraints of a single-lane roadway over the Gull Lake Dam.

Comments will be accepted through August 25.
