One of the contenders for the “KNVTS Schip van het Jaar” award is the recently delivered trailing suction hopper dredger Scheldt River, designed and built at Royal IHC.

DEME’s new dual fuel trailing suction hopper dredger was delivered back in 2017. The highly innovative vessel is capable of operating in LNG mode, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, almost eliminating sulphur, NOx and particle emissions.

This state-of-the-art dredger is part of DEME’s multi-year fleet investment program, focused on further increasing efficiency, both in terms of productivity and environmental performance.

The Maritime Awards Gala is organised each year by the Stichting Maritime Awards Gala foundation – representing Netherlands Maritime Technology, KVNR, KNVTS, Royal Netherlands, Maritime by Holland and the NISS.

The winners of the Maritime Awards will be announced on Monday, November 12th, 2018.
