Open House on Portland Harbor Superfund Site

The Portland Harbor Public Forum and Open House, which will share information and answer questions about current and upcoming cleanup activities at the Portland Harbor Superfund site, is set to take place tomorrow, September 12, 2018, at the Billy Frank Jr. Conference Center.

The forum is being organized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with support from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and the Portland Harbor Community Advisory Group.

The event is an opportunity for community members to meet with EPA and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality to understand and review information and updates about the Superfund site. Potentially Responsible Parties will also be present to share updates and answer questions, reports EPA.

The Portland Harbor Superfund Site spans about 10 miles of the Lower Willamette River in Portland, Oregon. EPA released a final cleanup plan in January 2017 to address contamination in the sediment (“mud” at the bottom of the river) that poses an unacceptable risk to human health and the environment.
