The project is located along the landward slope of the levee adjacent to the Skagit River near Wylie Road southwest of Conway, Washington.

The repair operations will start today and all work will be made on the landward side of the levee.

Damage to the levee occurred in November 2017. High flows occurred on the Skagit River with a peak flow of 90,200 cubic feet per second at the Skagit River near Mt. Vernon U.S. Geological Survey gage 12200500.

The damage reduced the levee to a 1-year level of protection.

USACE said that, once repaired, the levee will be restored to its pre-flood 50-year level of protection in order to protect lives and property from subsequent flooding in the ensuing flood seasons.
