The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Norfolk District (USACE) and the City of Virginia Beach are hosting an informational meeting about the Lynnhaven River Basin Ecosystem Restoration Project today, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Frank W. Cox High School, 2425 Shorehaven Drive, Virginia Beach.
The format of the meeting will be an informal open house, where the public can attend any time during the meeting hours, and staff from the USACE and City of Virginia Beach will be available to answer questions.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to learn more about the project.
Through out multiple phases, the ecosystem restoration project includes:
‘Phase One’ of the project includes 6.99 acres of wetlands restoration near Princess Anne High School, and restoring1.61 acres of wetlands near Thalia Lynn Baptist Church.
This phase of the project also includes creating seven acres of new reef habitat andsevenacres of submerged aquatic vegetation.
