For this contract – conducted for the Canal and River Trust – Land & Water has supplied the plant to carry out the works. “We even made sure that pleasure boats could continue to operate throughout the work,” Land & Water said in its release.

The silt from the dredging is being offloaded to Woodlesford Tip, and these operations will involve excavators reaching over the towpath, therefore in the interest of public safety the towpath will be closed for the duration of the works.

Whilst these works are being carried out pedestrians using the towpath will be able to cross over at the locks and use the path on the opposite side.

It is expected that this dredging project will be completed no later that December 3, 2018, according to the Canal and River Trust.
