Discussed were the challenges associated with climate change and sea level rise.

“We presented our latest study of the consequences of the accelerated sea level rise, and also addressed the consequences for Singapore. Furthermore, we talked about our alliance with the National University of Singapore (NUS), as well as the projects we are currently working on in Singapore in the fields of water quality, water availability and flood risk management,” Deltares said in its announcement.

The visit to Deltares was part of the official state visit by the President of Singapore to the Netherland, Wednesday, 21 November, and Thursday, 22 November.

The state visit confirms the good, close bilateral relations between the Netherlands and Singapore, according to Deltares.

It provided an opportunity to broaden and deepen cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the field of the economy and innovation.

Singapore is an important partner for the Netherlands in the Asian region. There are more than 1600 Dutch companies there. The country works closely with the Netherlands in the field of sustainable technology, and port and water infrastructure.
