A total of seven offers from design and engineering companies – from Italy and the rest of Europe – were received, demonstrating real interest in a work of great international value from a technical and economic point of view, the port authority stated.

The verification phase of the offers has already started and is expected to be completed within 30 days after which a commission for the evaluation of the technical proposals will be appointed.

The main objective of this tender is the elaboration of the technical and economic feasibility project of the new breakwater – estimated to cost around EUR 800 million.
