USACE to Host Stakeholder Partnering Forum

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District will meet with non-federal sponsors, customers and agency partners at Texas A&M Galveston Wednesday, March 27, to collaborate on programs ranging from the Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Study, to Bi-partisan budget Act of 2018 civil works projects.

USACE and Texas General Land Office officials will provide updates on public comments regarding the Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Study, the announcement of public meetings for the Buffalo Bayou and Tributaries Resiliency Study, and the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management Mega Study.

Together, we are moving ahead now that appropriations for studies and projects for construction are in place,” said Edmond Russo, Ph.D., the District’s deputy district engineer and programs and project management division chief.

Russo said that there will also be a number of interactive seminars and breakout sessions on specific topics of interest. Topics generating the most interest will involve the Coastal Texas Study and the Buffalo Bayou Resiliency Study.

Discussions concerning a range of measures to increase the performance potential of Addicks and Barker Reservoirs is of great interest,” said Russo. “Our project team will also talk about public meetings scheduled in early May 2019 where the public can learn more about the study.

The Texas General Land Office’s Deputy Director for Coastal Resources, David Green will deliver the keynote address.
