A new 74-meter long wharf, bigger, deeper and stronger than the current one, will be built during the next two Antarctic seasons.

It is due for completion in April 2020, and will provide safe berthing and efficient operations for the new polar research vessel the RRS Sir David Attenborough.

The companies BAM Nuttall and BAM International are responsible for project delivery with BAM International bringing invaluable skills in working in remote parts of the world.

Supporting British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is a Technical Advisor team led by Ramboll, which includes Turner & Townsend and NORR Architects, working alongside BAS’s construction partners BAM.
