Cottrell Contracting Corporation, a Chesapeake, VA, based dredging company, has won a $21,8 million contract for the James River Maintenance Dredging Program in Virginia.

Bids were solicited via the internet with three received, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) said in its latest announcement.

The project, with an estimated completion date of March 2022, will consist of maintenance dredging and disposal of dredged material by hydraulic dredge and pipeline at various shoal locations on the James River Federal Navigation Channel.

The work includes maintenance dredging to required depths of 18 to 26 feet with 1 foot of allowable overdepth.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District, is the contracting activity.

Established in 1928, Cottrell Contracting has a long history of infrastructure dredging along the eastern seaboard.
