Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) and its main reclamation contractor for the Three-runway System (3RS) project have signed a tripartite framework agreement with a company directly under the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Government regarding sand supply for the 3RS project.

Under the agreement, earmarked sand sources that have successfully gone through auction procedures in Guangxi will provide dedicated supply for 3RS reclamation works.

The delivery of sand from Guangxi to Hong Kong is expected to start from mid-2019.

The framework agreement was signed in Hong Kong under the witness of Lu Xinshe, Secretary of the CPC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee and Fred Lam, Chief Executive Officer of the AA.

Representatives of the AA, the main reclamation contractor, Zhen Hua Engineering Company Limited, China Communications Construction Company Limited and CCCC Dredging (Group) Company Limited Joint Venture, and Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group Company Limited signed on the tripartite agreement respectively.

The agreement provides for a sustained and stable supply of sand from earmarked sources in Guangxi, in accordance with the 3RS project’s required standard.
