Port Orford Dredging Kicks Off

J.E. McAmis, a Chico, California, based heavy-civil marine and environmental contractor, officially kicked off the dredging operations at Port Orford, Oregon, last week.

“The stop at Port Orford is just the first of 12 stops for the dredge crew this summer and fall,” the company said in its release.

The USACE’s Portland District recently awarded J.E. McAmis a contract for maintenance dredging works along the Oregon and Washington coasts.

According to J.E. McAmis, the contract includes dredging of the Port Orford, Charleston Harbor, Winchester Bay, Baker Bay, Skipanon River and Astoria Turning Basin.

Port Orford is located in Curry County, Oregon. The anticipated scope at this site will include dredging and placement of approximately 35,000 cubic yards of material with placement in 404 nearshore site.

The environmental in-water work window is 01 May through 31 October.
