Dr. Murali Confirmed as Speaker at IADC Conference in New Delhi

The International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) has confirmed Dr. Kantharaj Murali, Ocean Engineering and Engineering Unit Chairman of IIT Madras, to be one of the speakers at their Dredging for Sustainable Infrastructure Conference, scheduled for 18 October in New Delhi.

During his presentation, Dr. Murali will address the regional challenges on sustainable dredging.

Dr. Murali started his career at the Ocean Engineering Department of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India, in 1990.

At the moment, he is Professor Ocean Engineering and Chairman of Engineering Unit of IIT Madras, also playing the role of Professor-in-Charge of National Technology Center for Ports, Waterways and Coasts (NTCPWC) at IIT Madras.

During this IADC conference, new avenues towards the development of sustainable water infrastructure will be explored.

The four key enablers to ensure success will be discussed, including the issues of stakeholder engagement, valuation of ecosystem benefits, adaptive management of dredging projects and the beneficial use of dredged materials.

The conference’ speakers and sessions will be centered around the philosophy of the recently launched guidebook Dredging for Sustainable Infrastructure.
