Cassowary Coast Regional Council has awarded MGN Civil Pty Ltd the third Stage of the Flying Fish Point Rock Revetment Project in the Cassowary Coast Region, Queensland, Australia.

“MGN Civil recently completed Stages 1 and 2 and is looking forward to returning to complete the project,” the Hemmant, QLD, based marine construction company said in its latest release.

According to MGN, these works will provide much needed coastal protection for the local community.

The third stage of the Flying Fish Point project will include areas from George Street to Ruby Street, with the main goal to protect the esplanade.

The overall works involve the construction of a new rock revetment over the existing rock revetment.

The main construction processes are:

  • Reworking of the existing revetment material to achieve a slope of 1V:2H or flatter;
  • Installation of filter rock layer;
  • Installation of armor rock;
  • Installation of fish-friendly features at the toe;
  • Vegetation of the crest.
