Construction of CSD General MacArthur Progressing Swiftly

Callan Marine Ltd. from Galveston (Texas) announced today that the construction of their new cutter suction dredger (CSD) General MacArthur is moving along swiftly and right on schedule.

The vessel being built by Mobile Pulley Works (MPW) of Mobile (Alabama) was ordered earlier this year by BEAN Coastal LLC, a subsidiary of Callan Marine.

The contract includes the design, construction, delivery and installation of the complete dredging equipment package for this powerful CSD.

The newbuild named “General MacArthur” will have a total installed power of 24,000 HP (approx. 18,000 kW) and the diameter of its discharge pipe will be 31.5 inch. (approx. 800 mm).

In addition to the equipment for the CSD itself, MPW will also deliver the ball joints and pontoons for the floating discharge pipeline.

The expected completion date for the “General MacArthur” is the 4th Quarter of this year.
